These insect life cycle foldable activities make a fun addition to science books. This set of resources looks at the life cycle of a butterfly, honey bee, ladybird and dragonfly. Pupils will love creating their foldout, then opening to reveal the life cycle inside. These could be used for a lesson on insects or minibeasts, life cycles or habitats. There are different options allowing you to differentiate the activity if required: Black and white templates for pupils to colour, cut and fold Black and white templates for pupils to colour, sequence the life cycle stages, glue and fold. This resource should be used in presentation/slide show mode to work effectively. After a short introduction, you get to a slide showing a cross-section of a rockpool. Click on each creature in the rockpool and it will take you to a slide telling you what it is, and some information about it! There are 10 creatures in total (starfish, sea urchin, barnacles, mussel, crab, hermit crab, jellyfish, sea snail, limpet, anemone). There are questions to discuss together and once you have looked at a creature, you can easily click back to the rockpool to choose the next one. Animals can be accessed in any order. The presentation is partially editable (text in white boxes can be changed) but images and titles are fixed in place. Want a fun and engaging way to teach food chains at KS1? This sequencing science craft activity is hands-on alternative to a food chains worksheet. Children can construct a 4-stage food chains for 3 different habitats - a woodland, ocean/sea and a rainforest. For each habitat, there are 4 options included: Template 1: Colour the food chain template and food chain stages, cut and fold. Template 2: Color the template and food chain stages, arrange the stages in order, glue, cut, and fold. Template 3: Colour the template, draw/write a 3-stage food chain for that habitat in the boxes, cut, and fold. Template 4: Colour the template, draw/write a 4-stage food chain for that habitat in the boxes, cut, and fold. In addition, you’ll find a blank template included that you can use for any habitat. Once folded, pupils can hide their food chain by bringing the 2 halves of the template together, then gently pull apart to reveal the inside. There is minimal prep required. Print the designs you plan to use on paper or card. Pupils need coloured pencils and scissors. One template in each habitat set requires glue. Instructions for how to fold are included (you may wish to make an example beforehand for those who might find folding tricky).
